Quality & Reliability
The Dachshund is a small dog, roughly 7–15kg. It comes in a variety of coat types—smooth, longhaired, or wirehaired—and colors, with its distinctive long body and short legs. Dachshund is German for “badger dog” (“Dachs” meaning badger and “Hund” meaning dog). Bred in Germany several centuries ago, they were originally used to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals, their unique shape helping them go underground. The breed spread across Europe and eventually the world, admired for both its hunting skills and charming personality.
They were also popular companion dogs in the 19th and 20th centuries thanks to their bold yet affectionate nature. Dachshunds are known for being playful, stubborn, affectionate, and courageous. They are adaptable companions who often bond closely with their families and get along well with children, though their hunting instincts can make them feisty at times. Alert and curious, Dachshunds make excellent watchdogs, always ready to sound the alarm, though they are also loyal and loving.
Their confidence and portability make them suitable for both city and country life. Dachshunds train best with patience and consistency, and many enjoy entertaining their families with their lively personalities. Finally, there’s the spirited Dachshund charm that wins hearts and brings smiles wherever they go.
